What does LWG leather certification mean?Updated 8 hours ago
The Leather Working Group (LWG) certification is an independent international label. It guarantees that the leather tanning processes comply with strict specifications in order to minimize the ecological impact of this industry.
The label evaluates tanneries based on three main criteria:
- Responsible water management.
- Energy consumption.
- The treatment and reduction of chemical waste.
At JULES & JENN, 80% of our items are already made from LWG-certified leathers, with a large majority having achieved the Gold level (the most demanding tier of the certification).
Because we constantly strive to push our ethical approach further, our goal is to reach 100% certified leathers by 2028.
